The Luminous Rotunda
Six concentric ovoid rings in New York's great rotunda, transform the space into a suspended breathing organism
uring the summer of 2013, the great atrium of Frank Lloyd Wright's rotunda in New York City was taken over by a mesmerizing visitor. This was James Turrell’s first solo museum exhibition in New York since 1980. The museum closed its iconic ramps and illuminated the interior void into a colorful and glowing space, adopting the impression of an eyeball with multiple pupils when viewed from below.
Framlab was commissioned to assist on the digital 3D modeling and the visualization of the installation.

"Spend time watching its fluctuations and you may or may not see God, but you will probably come away with both an enhanced sense of your visual powers and also a new humbleness concerning the world’s visual complexities"
